Jax Bar and Grill

Jax Bar and Grill in Glendale turned out not to be a true BBQ joint, but rather a restaurant that happens to serve barbecue—specifically baked baby back ribs covered in sauce. Despite the initial disappointment and the misleading expectation of a dedicated barbecue spot, the ribs themselves were surprisingly good: meaty, flavorful, and tender, even better than some of the ribs tried earlier in the 7in7 series.

Because Jax isn’t a real barbecue restaurant, the review is intentionally brief. The overall experience, however, was enjoyable. The evening wrapped up with a live blues band whose bass player resembled Billy Vera, sparking a long conversation about Billy Vera and the Beaters’ big 1980s hit. Photos from the visit are promised for a later post, with the writer cutting things short due to Mother’s Day obligations.
