Most of these top lists are always crap. They have 2 good restaurants and the rest are sellouts. LAweekly is the only list that truly matters and we are darn lucky to have it. Aside from that, I rely on the blogs!

With the Bear Pit on their "top 9" list, Channel 9 bottoms out at the credibility level. I mean, the Bear Pit? They boil their ribs before finishing 'em in smoke. Talk about your half-vast "q"! Well, that said, I'm headed to the Swinging Door.

On your site for the first time. Love it!

As far as KCAL's list though, it's automatically suspect if it has the Bear Pit on it.

Living in the Valley since '85, I had seen many an ad for the Bear Pit. Finally went their awhile back. The food was not edible! Now, I have to tell you that I've eaten at Hogly Wogly's many times. As of late, the chickens seem to come out dry. So, I don't order the chicken any more-but, at least you can still eat it.

The Bear Pit's food (everything), the ribs, chicken, everything, tasted like it was made with cigarette ashes. I took a bite of everything, hoping to find something edible because I was starving, and, so was my friend. We threw everything out after 1 bite of each-and I have never done that before in my life.

That can't be a one time thing.

KCAL: You guys got no taste and zero credibility when it comes to "Q."

FZ, I went to Ribs USA on Sat. I agree with you, Ribs USA is terrible.

I love the Rib Nest but the service sucks. If you can deal with attitude, you will get some of the best ribs around.

I'm always disappointed when Ribs USA makes a list like this. There are other places that put so much more love and effort into their food that never get mentioned.

Viva la barbacoa-
