Wow, kinda weird, New Year’s morning with no Bob Eubanks narrating the Rose Parade. Sippin on hot cocoa and watching the floats go on by, as bob informs you of every intricate detail that goes into making these masterpieces, isn’t going to happen to day. I guess I will have to wait until tomorrow, but it just doesn’t seem right. In the meantime, I suppose I can contemplate over some new years resolutions:
List of BBQ Junkie’s new year’s resolutions:
10. Eat more BBQ
9. Cook more BBQ
8. Try and post more frequently
7. lose that holiday weight
6. cook in a BBQ competition
5. review more restaurants
4. redesign my website
3. judge more events
2. spend more time with family and friends (BBQ’n of course)
1. have fun while doing it all
Happy new year everyone and thanks for reading BBQ Junkie in 2005. Things will only get better in 2006.

I had no BBQ for Christmas Dinner, but, as you can see in the picture, there was plenty of good food to be had. There were some chicken tamales, a pot of seafood/chicken gumbo, gravy for the turducken and a pot of collard greens. yummmm. Food is a big component to any holiday celebration, feel free to post a comment on what you had or are having. In the mean time, I am going to go heat up some left overs.

What is up with this weather? 80 plus degrees today… amazing. I got the Xmas music blasting through iTunes as I wrap my final gifts, but it just doesn’t feel like Xmas Eve without it being a little colder. If I wasn’t wrapping gifts, I’d probably be outside BBQ’n. We do have good weather here in Southern California, but on Xmas Eve I do like to at least pretend that it’s winter time. Come on Saint Nick… I don’t need a white Xmas, just a cool one. How am I supposed to enjoy eating tamales and drinking eggnog in all of this heat.
Anyway, enjoy your Xmas Eve and try not to get sun burned.

This is me enjoying my third Crown-on the-rocks of the evening… and yes, i am wearing a fake mustache (not sure why, but it seemed like a good idea at the time).
We had our annual company holiday party last night and I am still a little hung over. I got my party on pretty hard last night with Rob Lowe (not the actor), Jill of the Grill (occasional poster for BBQ Junkie), and Pramit… a few notable bloggers and friends. I also wanted to take this time to wish everyone a happy holiday (pick one). I’m not sure how frequently I will be posting in the next couple of weeks because this time of year is so busy with cooking, parties, shopping (I am way behind on my shopping) and entertaining. If any relevant BBQ news comes up, I will keep you posted. One more thing that I wanted to remind you of is the Rose Bowl BBQ Competition at the end of this month. You should try to make it out there and support our local BBQ teams.

Do you love BBQ, cooking, or Los Angeles? I would love to hear what you’d like for Xmas, Hanukah or Kwanza this year. During the holidays it seems as though everyone is cooking up something special. Many gifts that are exchanged are focused around cooking, whether it is BBQ or not. If you are looking for or want a gift that is related to BBQ, food or Los Angeles just write it down as a comment to this post.

The Los Angeles Times Calendar section has a great article on L.A. blogs. There are so many blogs out there that cover off on all the aspects of this city. It opened my eyes to some new blogs. Read the article in today’s paper, or go to the website and read it there.
Read the article
And here are a couple of the L.A. blogs that I read regularly:
Soul Fusion Kitchen
Daily Gluttony
You Gonna Eat That? (actually in the O.C.)
Low End Theory’s L.A. Restaurants

BBQ Junkie’s hosting service was having some technical issues this morning that resulted in this site being down for a few hours. Everything seems to be back to normal. Thanks for your patience.
