Hello Autumn
Just because today is the last full day of summer doesn’t mean that you have to stop barbecuing. We do, after all, live in the land of eternal sunshine or so it seems. When autumn steps in you don’t necessarily have to step out, just cover up. Autumn in Los Angeles can mean damp mornings, Santa Ana winds and/or the occasional shower, as we saw yesterday. Not only does the wetness and wind affect the traffic in L.A., it also can do some damage on your grill (gas or charcoal).
The best way to protect your grill is to simply get a cover. If you don’t have a cover for your barbecue grill, I would recommend getting one. If that’s not an option, store it in a location away from the elements but still accessible… after all, we aren’t completely shutting it down.
…If you are thinking about hanging up the tongs until next spring, it’s a great time to try some of your local Los Angeles barbecue restaurants.
Junkie, I live in the Midwest and lick my lips for all your restaurants out there. Really tasty. And your blog is so information filled, A cover to protect my bbq? Great recommendation. I would have never thought of that. And since I didn’t have a cover, I thought my bbquickly you put my mind at ease with your second recommendation:
“If you don’t have a cover for your barbecue grill, I would recommend getting one.”
Great advice. I was also shocked by this comment from your last post:
“Climbing the mountain up was definitely the hardest part of the hike.”
Again, I would have never suspected that. But then again, it’s all out of love.
viva la bbq! :]
Didn’t mean to come off condescending. Sometimes my fingers don’t type as fast as my lips move. In actuality the hardest part of the hike was the ascension. Not so much with the physical exertion of climbing but with reduction in oxygen at that elevation.
Well, no offense, but i live in the bbq capital of the world, here in North Carolina. I find it difficult to match good ole Lexington NC chopped bbq with their spicy vinegar based sauce. Now when i travel, i try to find bbq wherever i go, and i must say the best i have found outside of NC was a hole in the wall place in KC, can’t remember the name, but it was bbq beef not pork, and surprise, i loved it! I like spicy, and hot, and it was. Now as to the other intent of the post to which i am responding, i think it’s appropriate to grill, smoke, bbq year round, winter, spring, summer, fall. In fact i don’t need much of an excuse to grill out. It’s friday, let’s barbecue! Know what i mean?
