I've tried a number of places in the LA area and I think Woody's is the best. I ordered the combo (pork ribs, brisket and mild beef sausage) and it was better than Phillips, Lucille's, Robin's in Pasadena and Barn Burner. The ribs had a good smoke ring, noticeable smoke flavor, and were cooked well. The brisket was unevenly cut, but good - good smoke ring, tender and not dry. Just be aware - the location isn't great.

Just happened upon the site bored at work. To add to your list of Woodland Hills BBQ, try Rosie's on Ventura and Winnetka. It's a newer location, but they've been in the valley for awhile. Good selection and you can't go wrong with wood-burning bbq.

How about Pecos Bill's on Victory, a few blocks north of Griffith Park? Great ribs on the weekends and Oakie Pork and Oakie Beef sandwiches during the week.

Good luck on the quest. If I had to find 7 new barbecue restaurants in 7 days I'd have to cross 7 states! You be lucky in California.
