Once again Wildomar will host The Ultimate BBQ Showdown East vs. West II this Saturday March 19th. Four Q, me included, will be there as well as 55 other teams. It’s the first of many KCBS BBQ competitions in SoCal this year. I’ll take plenty of photos and let you know how we do. If you are in the neighborhood or at the competition stop by the Four Q BBQ team booth and say hello… or you can just follow my tweets.
If you have ever wondered what real BBQ tastes like and want to support a great cause while tasting some, come by the Orange County Fairgrounds this Saturday. This will be the fourth annual Kristie’s Foundation BBQ competition. If you do come down, stop by the Four Q BBQ team booth and say hello. Or, you can just follow my Twitter feed.
This weekend (on Saturday) the 5th Annual Smokin’ in The Park BBQ competition will be held at the the Viejas Casino in Alpine, CA (Just east of San Diego). This festival seems to get bigger every year with lots of entertainment and stuff to do.
If you are around drop on by the Four Q BBQ team booth and say hello or you can follow my tweets throughout the day.

The 2nd Annual Que’n for Kids BBQ competition is happening this Saturday May 9 at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa. This is a very fun event for both attendees and competitors… and you can feel good about it, as the proceeds go towards Kristie’s Foundation which benefits terminally ill children. There will be live music, kids entertainment along with an “awesome kid zone and car show.
Four-Q BBQ team (minus me) will be there representing as last year’s People’s Choice Champions. I have no doubt that they will make me proud once again. If you happen to go, give them a try and cast your vote accordingly. You may also want to say hi to any of the other 33 BBQ teams that will be there competing. If you go, please leave a comment and let me know how it went.
Check out my Flickr photos from last year’s event.

Also this weekend is the Second Annual Los Angeles BBQ Festival in Santa Monica.
The answer is a hit reality show that is looking to cast family with competition BBQ in their blood. Actually, only one member needs to be a competition BBQ’r. You also need to have at least one child that is between the ages of 7 and 17. You know how that old saying goes… a family that BBQs together, stays together. Good luck and break a leg.
Here are the details:

That’s right, there is a BBQ Judging class this weekend at Throw Backs Bar & Grill in Anaheim. These events are quite a rarity in SoCal and this one only has five spots left (as of this morning). BBQ Judging classes aren’t just about judging, you learn a lot about BBQ tradition and competition… and you get to sample some too. If you do compete (perhaps in the upcoming Que’n for Kids BBQ competition?), it’s a great look behind the magic curtain of judging and you can gain valuable insight to use in future competitions.
