Four-Q takes fifth place in ribs!

I wanted to do a quick post about the Autry BBQ competition this yesterday. Our team of bloggers competed against some of the best teams in state and came in fifth in ribs. Ultimately we ranked 19th out of 29 teams, not bad considering it was our first time out there. We had a great time out there and will probably do it again… were considering entering the Rose Bowl competition in October.
I will write a more telling review of my experience later this week because I am currently trying to catch up on some sleep. I wanted to thank my teammates (including the plate-prep girl, Cutty) and all of the blog readers and writers that came out to support us, (It’s great to finally put faces to a names) and all of our friends and families. It was very fun; you can’t go wrong hanging out with people who love BBQ.

Heck yeah, I’m gonna eat that!! How about those ribs?!?!?! Talkin’ Autryland BBQ weekend, running the 4Q flag up the rib pole. Way to go, you guys! Congratulations and, “It’s gnawing time again, I’m going to miss you guys.” It was a great weekend at the Autry - weather was terrific, food was terrific, smoke was outrageous, but most of all, the people were terrific. You guys were the tops! It was so much fun to drop in and meet the Junkie and Sylvie and the guy I know as Mista Brisket and the Prof. You guys were just great - very into it, yet pretty casual and real personable. Maybe next time you’ll be a little more uptight, now that you’ve made the list. On Friday when everyone was setting up and the cookers were still cold, well, everyone at the park was in a good and energized spirit. Come Saturday, though, the tension was torqued up in some of those other booths. I was so glad to see you guys still kickin and loving life. And again, big congrats on the ribs, and thanks for such a great time. See you again soon (Could you use a production assistant, you know, help schlep here and set up there and mostly stay out of the way?)
Congratulations! Those ribs look awesome. 5th place your first time out of the gate is an incredible achievemnet.
Congratulations! It was fun to meet you guys in person, and from the niblet I tasted, the victory was well-deserved.
I am so proud of our team I don’t know what to do! So…
Which one are we gonna do next?
..and I did get up at 2:30am to check the temp. Love you all. I’m in for another one as long as it is close by.
I had a blast! I’m already thinking about ways to get better results.
I am so happy to have meet the BBQ Junkie and Sylvie in person. You guys did an awesome job and should be really proud of yourselves. My friends and I were so excited by the vibe that we are seriously thinking about entering the competition at the Rose Bowl - maybe we will see you there.
I am a backyard BBQer and I just started reading your blog right before you went to the competition. I have to say that I was impressed with yout teams results and I just wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS! (PS your chjicken looks great, I can’t find your recipe on here.)
Congratulations, tasty lookin’ ribs!
